The Specktator is thrilled to have European Street Cafe as title sponsor of the online calendar!
As one of my favorite places to eat, drink and socialize in the the city, “E. Street” (as the cool kids call it) makes the perfect partner to help promote the best events happening in the city.
NOTE: This is a “curated calendar,” meaning I have personally reviewed each event and consider it to be of interest to the general public and/or something particularly compelling. It is important to know that businesses cannot buy a calendar entry. That said, if you have an event you would like considered for the calendar, send the pertinent information to email@example.com.
And by the way, be sure to change the view from “month” to “stream” below. Unless you like being really annoyed.
A free, sustainable festival devoted to environmental awareness, animal advocacy, and of course, plant-based cuisine. Psychic readings also available.
This festival is not affiliated with the Northeast Florida Veg Fest, which is usually held yearly but was cancelled this year. We’re here to fill in the gap so no one misses out on a day we ourselves love so much.

Climb your trucks and start your engines, Monster Jam is coming to a city near you. As one of the country’s premier live motorsport events, Monster Jam features the biggest, baddest monster trucks in the business going at it in bone-crushing races and freestyles. Despite the menacing names of the trucks, the scene at Monster Jam is decidedly friendly — each event features a “Pit Party” where fans get the chance to score autographs and memorabilia from drivers known for their humble generosity. With a record 32 trucks competing in 2014 — including fan favorites like Avenger and Double Trouble — the circuit is sure to feature more mayhem and destruction than ever before.

My two cents: Because Oktoberfest.
From event organizers: The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks raise awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. Each event is a noncompetitive 3 to 5 mile walk that brings people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer. The events raise money to fund innovative research, provide free information and support, and to help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.
From the opening ceremony to the post-walk entertainment, a Making Strides event is a celebration of survivors and opportunity to remember loved-ones lost. It’s a day that shouldn’t be missed and won’t be forgotten.
NOTE: There is no fee to sign up or join. This is a fundraising walk to fund the life saving mission of the American Cancer Society. Please consider making a tax deductible donation.
Registration will be on site, but pre-registration is highly encouraged.
My two cents: My mom died of breast cancer in 1981. She was 41 years old. Considering about 12 percent of women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what my mom did. (A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.)
