The Specktator is thrilled to have European Street Cafe as title sponsor of the online calendar!
As one of my favorite places to eat, drink and socialize in the the city, “E. Street” (as the cool kids call it) makes the perfect partner to help promote the best events happening in the city.
NOTE: This is a “curated calendar,” meaning I have personally reviewed each event and consider it to be of interest to the general public and/or something particularly compelling. It is important to know that businesses cannot buy a calendar entry. That said, if you have an event you would like considered for the calendar, send the pertinent information to email@example.com.
And by the way, be sure to change the view from “month” to “stream” below. Unless you like being really annoyed.
Make a splash at the hottest party of the year. You’re invited to an amazing adventure just below the surface on Saturday, August 27 at our 7th annual party for JASMYN – Feel the Fantasea.
Let the ocean inspire your attire and dive into the depths of the abyss at The Museum for a night of over-the-top costumes (while costume attire is not required, it is highly suggested), live music from Atlanta’s DJ Marc J. Cubs, dancing, guest performances, drinks, food trucks and fun.
21 and up only.
All proceeds are donated to JASMYN, a not-for-profit organization that provides a safe place for local at-risk LGBT youth in Jacksonville—and is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser.

So I was asked to host this event. I have no idea what that means.
All I know is there’s ’80s music, a full bar and I’ll be the most “normal” looking person there.
According to the event page, however, VJ Wes Reed (and a special guest) will be playing the tunes. Johnny Yong Bosch of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie fame will be performing live. (Not sure what he’s performing, but it will definitely be live.) And I, of course, will be wandering around in some strange get-up trying to figure out exactly what it is I’m supposed to be doing.
That, alone, is worth the price of admission.
Because it’s free.
FUN FACT: Johnny Kong Bosch and I have the same birthday.
