JASMYN, the Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network, hosts its ninth annual “Coming Out Day Breakfast,” a fundraising event that celebrates businesses and corporations who affirm healthy, diverse workplaces that include LGBT employees.
This year’s keynote speaker is Kevin B. Jennings, former Assistant Secretary of Education in the Obama administration. He is also the founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a national education organization tackling anti-LGBT bias in U.S. schools, which he led for 18 years. Jennings, a noted author and speaker, will talk about strategies to address bullying in schools and the challenges still faced by LGBT and questioning youth.
FUN FACT: Jennings and his partner, Jeff Davis, are “proud dads” to Jackson, a Bernese mountain dog, and Sloane, a golden retriever.
